Rural King Supply, also known as R.K. Holdings, LLP, is an American farm supply retail chain based in Mattoon, Illinois, United States. Home and general merchandise store, the company provides a broad range of necessities and other products, including livestock feed, farm equipment, agricultural parts, lawnmowers, workwear, fashion clothing, housewares, and toys. Rural King also operates an online store and an online gun store.
Kermit Speer and Keith Beaird founded Rural King Supply in 1960 in Mattoon, Illinois. The store was successful, and they opened several more locations between 1962 and 1973 in Indiana and Illinois. In December 2015, Rural King announced they had reached $1 Billion in annual sales for the first time. Today, the chain has over 6,000 employees and over 125 stores in thirteen U.S. states.
Rural King is committed to supporting its local communities. They donate to the Gary Sinise Foundation, which provides aid for veterans and first responders and their families. From March 14-27, 2021, they donated 10% of each valid Rural King receipt total after sales tax to Christian nonprofits during their Church Week fundraiser. Rural King owns the full-service veterinary clinic chain Country Critters Veterinary Clinics located inside select Rural King stores, offering quality pet care at a low price.
