Food Town - Store

Foodtown is an American chain of grocery stores that function as a cooperative in the northeastern United States. Each store is independently owned and operated but they are all run in cooperation with the other Foodtown stores that share branding, a website and more. Selling a variety of products that customers want and need, Foodtown offers pantry items, baked goods, meat & seafood, fresh products, dairy items, frozen foods, pet supplies, health & beauty and a variety of other goods. Services include pharmacy, catering and an in-store deli.

Food Town - History

Founded in 1955 by Twin County Grocers, Foodtown originated in the state of New Jersey. The store grew into a major grocery chain on Long Island in the 1980s. After some financial difficulties and internal scandals, many Foodtown stores closed or changed branding. Even so, the Foodtown banner survived and continues to do business in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, where more than 60 stores operate under the Foodtown name.

Food Town - Promotions

Sales change regularly with Foodtown’s weekly advertisements, which run from Friday to Thursday. Customers who sign up for a Foodtown Club Card can save by earning points and then redeeming them for discounted or free products. The Ibotta App allows customers to link their Foodtown Club Card, making it even easier to save while shopping.

Food Town - News

Valuing the connection between locally-owned businesses, Foodtown endeavors to work closely with cooperatives and affiliations that support this cause. As of 2021, they connect their resources through the New Jersey Food Council, the Eastern Produce Council, the Food Industry Alliance of New York Star, and many more.

Food Town - More Information

Encouraging health among their customers, Foodtown stores provide education and resources through access to a registered dietician nutritionist (RDN) who offers tips and ideas online for customers in the “Easy to Eat Well” video series.
