Orscheln Farm & Home is an American chain of retail stores that offer supplies for farms and ranches. In addition, they provide a range of other products such as automotive supplies, hardware, housewares, hunting equipment, pet supplies, outdoor products, tools and apparel. Some of the notable brand names Orscheln carries include Huntworth, DeWALT, Gallagher, Berne, Durango, Ariat, Mattel, and more.
The first Orscheln Farm & Home was opened in 1960 by W. C. Orscheln in Sedalia, Missouri. W.C.’s desire was to supply American families in rural settings with the goods they needed to live and enjoy the rural, farming and ranching lifestyle. The business stayed in the family when, a few years later, W.C.’s son started running it. The company grew and by 2003 had 85 stores across the Midwestern United States. By 2020, it had grown to more than 165 stores and expanded to a few southern states as well.
Working to prepare farmers of the future, Orscheln Industries provides a scholarship program to 4-H and FFA students for graduating seniors in several Midwestern states. The scholarships are $1000 each and preference is given to students who live in areas where Orscheln Farm and Home stores are located.
