Karns Quality Foods is an American family-owned grocery store chain located in Pennsylvania. Stores focus particularly on selling fresh produce, meats, and other perishable items, but also offer a full-service bakery department, pantry, and other products. Karns offers a variety of its own private labels that come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
Since its founding by David L. Karns in 1959, Karns Quality Foods has continued to be family-owned and operated. It began as a butcher shop in the town of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. It wasn’t long until the meat shop turned into a full-fledged grocery store and now the company runs nine different locations in the state of Pennsylvania.
In addition to discounts and weekly ads available to all customers, seniors over the age of 65 shopping at Karns can receive an additional 5% discount off of their grocery items on Tuesdays, with a purchase of $10 or more. Karns also offers double the value of coupons every day, up to $1. Customers can also sign up to receive emails that include exclusive offers on various products throughout the stores.
The end of 2021 will add another location to the Karns family of stores. Announced in November, Karns will be acquiring the more than 100-year-old grocery business, Mutzabaugh’s Family Market in Duncannon, Pennsylvania. Mutzabaugh’s is set to close in December and the store will reopen immediately while the location is transitioned to Karns and eventually renovated in 2022.
