A chain of grocery stores in the western region of the United States, Rosauers operates 17 stores in Washington, Oregon, Montana, and Idaho. The stores sell pantry items, meat & seafood, fresh produce, dairy, grocery, and general merchandise. In addition, Rosauers Supermarkets offer many services to its customers, such as deli, floral, pharmacy, and a scratch bakery for customized cakes.
Rosauers began in 1934 when its first food shop was opened in Spokane, Washington by J. Merton Rosauer. That first neighborhood store was sold in 1938 so that Rosauer could open another larger one. He continued in this process until the company’s first supermarket was opened in 1949, which also happened to be the first supermarket in the city of Spokane. The company expanded with conventional supermarkets as well as organic and low-price models in the Pacific Northwest and it is now owned by URM Stores.
In addition to its weekly ad that is filled with deals, Rosauers also provides a list of Monthly Power Buys that vary based on the specific store. Examples of these might include branded juice 2/$4, gourmet soda priced at $3.99 for a six-pack, or branded bagels at $2.49 for the 6-count bag. 2021 brought new leadership to Rosauers as Cliff Rigsbee was named as the new CEO of the company. The previous CEO, Jeff Philipps has retired after 20 years on the job, and he turned over the reins to Rigsbee, a former executive for the Albertsons family of stores, in the summer of 2021.
The Rosauers Open golf tournament has been a premier event in the Pacific Northwest area since 1987. The event has contributed more than $3 million over the years to charity. The non-profit of choice for the golf tournament is the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, which provides care to children and families who are at risk of child abuse.
