Conns, Inc., is a furniture, mattress, electronics and appliance store chain based near Houston, Texas. Their mission is “to make quality, long-lasting products for the home available to everyone." They operate more than 150 stores across the Southern U.S., with more than 4,500 employees. In 2020, Conn's nearly hit $1.4 billion in revenue.
Conn’s started as a small plumbing and heating company in the U.S. over 125 years ago. In 1934 Carol Washington Conn, Sr., bought the Beaumont, Texas company and renamed it Conn’s. Mr. Conn soon expanded the business’ product line with refrigerators and gas ranges, and in 1940, purchased a store building at 268 Pearl Street in Beaumont. The company’s sales grew and they opened their first out-of-state location in Louisiana in 1969. In 1993, Conn’s annual sales hit $100 million dollars, then $200 million in 1997. Conn’s went public on the NASDAQ in 2003 and expanded into more Western and Southern states in the 2010s.
Conn’s offers free delivery on purchases of at least $799, free delivery and setup for mattresses $999 and up, free delivery on vacuums and fitness equipment, and more. They also offer value deals, such as 10% off when you purchase three or more same-brand appliances at $2499 or more, and 5% off on two same-brand appliances at $1499 or more. Conn's home deliveries are only available in their local markets (AL, AZ, CO, FL, GA, LA, MS, NV, NM, NC, OK, SC, TN, TX, and VA).
In August 2021 Conn’s announced Chandra Holt as its next CEO and president, effective August 9, 2021. Holt had been a rising star at Walmart, having been promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2019.
Conn’s is committed to supporting local non-profit organizations in key communities. In August 20202 the retailer donated more than $80,745 in Serta and Simmons mattresses to Houston Habitat for Humanity and the Montgomery County chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. The special donation made through the brand's charitable arm, Conn's Cares, included 45 mattresses.
