Dollar Tree - History

Dollar Tree began in 1953 when K.R. Perry opened a Ben Franklin variety store in Virginia that soon became the K&K 5&10. In 1970, Perry started the K&K Toys store in Virginia and the mall concept caught on. In 1986, Perry and two other men started the Only $1.00 with five stores. In 1993, the name was changed to Dollar Tree and continues to thrive today.

Dollar Tree puts out two flyers in paper and digital forms. The fun ad runs for approximately three weeks and the lookbook runs for three months. These are seasonal items that are available for a limited time in each Dollar Tree.
