An American chain of grocery stores in the New Jersey area, Kings Food Market is a chic style supermarket that sells fresh, gourmet-quality food and caters to high-end customers. In addition to offering groceries, pantry items, meats and produce, Kings Food Markets also provide their customers with access to catering services, pharmacy, and even a cooking studio.
When the first Kings Food Market opened in 1936, the store was opened by the Bildner family. It grew to more than 20 stores in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. By 2009, Kings had acquired Balducci’s, another upscale-style supermarket, adding to its number of stores. In 2020, the upscale supermarket chain was purchased by Albertson’s after Kings’ parent company filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Kings now operate 19 stores in the New Jersey area.
