Fiesta Mart - Store

Fiesta Mart is a Latin-American supermarket operating more than 60 stores in the Houston, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Austin areas of Texas. As they cater to those with Hispanic ethnic backgrounds in Texas, their advertisements and website are in both Spanish and English. In addition, they sell specialty items that may not be found in other stores, such as Oaxaca Cheese, Chorizo by the pound, Mexican Cream, or Fiesta store brand Nacho Chips.

Fiesta Mart - History

Started in 1972 by Donald Bonham and O.C. Mendenhall, Fiesta Foods original owners did not have Hispanic ethnic backgrounds, but they did have experience with farming in Guatemala and Belize. They believed that businesses in the Houston area did not provide enough catering opportunities for Mexican American, so they started Fiesta Mart. Eventually, the stores added products for other ethnicities, including Indian, African, Filipino, Korean and Vietnamese. They grew to 15 stores in the 1980s, acquired other locations, the company eventually changed hands in the 2000s.
