AutoZone - History

AutoZone was founded in 1979 in Forrest City, Arkansas using the name Auto Shack. The company grew to 73 stores in 7 states in the early 1980s. In 1987, Auto Shack changed its name to AutoZone and more stores are added in more states. The company opened its 1000th store in the mid-90s, which is also when they launched their website, and then went international soon after. AutoZone is now a Fortune 500 company and the largest chain of auto parts stores in the United States with more than 6000 stores in the US, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Brazil, and the US Virgin Islands.

Customers who download the AutoZone app can earn AutoZone Rewards worth $20 for every 5 purchases of $20 or more. Free delivery is also available for App users who order parts totaling $35 or more. Or orders can be made on the mobile app and picked up in the store for free.
