Harps Food Stores, Inc., is a regional grocery store chain based in Springfield, Arkansas. The company sells groceries and sporting goods in some larger stores, and some larger locations have pharmacies and fuel centers. The company’s full-service grocery store departments include bakery, deli, meat, and produce. In addition to Harps Food Stores, the company operates grocery stores under four banners: Food4Less, CashSaver, 10Box Cost-Plus, and Warehouse Market.
Harvard and Floy Harp founded Harps Food Stores in 1930 with the $500 Harvard had saved at his job to open their first store, Harps Cash Grocery, in Springdale, Arizona. Over the next 34 years they generated more sales and moved to bigger buildings. In 1964, they opened a second store in North Springdale, Arizona. Over the next few decades Harps became a chain grocery store, and in 2001 employees took ownership after buying company shares from the Harp family. As of 2020, the company has 114 locations across four Southwestern states, employs 5,300 people, and is worth around $550 million.
