Conns, Inc., is a furniture, mattress, electronics and appliance store chain based near Houston, Texas. Their mission is “to make quality, long-lasting products for the home available to everyone." They operate more than 150 stores across the Southern U.S., with more than 4,500 employees. In 2020, Conn's nearly hit $1.4 billion in revenue.
Conn’s started as a small plumbing and heating company in the U.S. over 125 years ago. In 1934 Carol Washington Conn, Sr., bought the Beaumont, Texas company and renamed it Conn’s. Mr. Conn soon expanded the business’ product line with refrigerators and gas ranges, and in 1940, purchased a store building at 268 Pearl Street in Beaumont. The company’s sales grew and they opened their first out-of-state location in Louisiana in 1969. In 1993, Conn’s annual sales hit $100 million dollars, then $200 million in 1997. Conn’s went public on the NASDAQ in 2003 and expanded into more Western and Southern states in the 2010s.
