Strack & Van Til is a premium grocery store chain with locations in Northwest Indiana. The stores operate under the banners of Strack & Van Til and Town & Country Food Market. The specialty grocery stores have a bakery, deli, beer, and wine, floral, produce, meat and seafood, household and pet, and more departments. They also offer a full range of catering food for parties, holidays, and entertainment and a specialty cake department that makes cakes from scratch. They offer online order and delivery as well as in-store pickup.
Ernie Strack and Nick Van Til partnered and created Strack and Van Til in 1959, opening their first location in Highland, Indiana, in 1960. Van Til grew the business by adding many product lines and opening at an earlier hour than other stores and chains. His business grew to become one of the leading grocery chains in the Chicago metropolitan area. In the early 2010s, the chain reached nearly forty stores after adding seven more through acquisition. In 2017, Strack & Van Til closed six stores which were then sold in a bankruptcy auction to the Strack and Van Til families and the Indiana Grocery Group. Today, the chain has 21 locations and is planning to open more.
