Pavilions is an American grocery store chain that operates supermarkets in California. Pavilions sells fresh produce, organic items, freshly baked goods, dairy, pantry products and more. In addition, Pavilions offers a broader shopping experience with access to specialty products such as fresh tortillas, an ice cream shop, small pizza parlor, full-service butcher and florist. They also offer grocery delivery & pickup, pharmacy, money services, and more at their 26 locations in the United States.
With its first shop opened in 1985 in Garden Grove, California, Pavilions sought to meet the needs of customers who were passionate about freshness and nutrition, as well as more diverse shopping experiences. Pavilions was associated with the California brand, Vons, but tended to feature products that were a bit more upscale, as well as offering a larger selection of wine, specialty food items and organic products. The Pavilions and Vons brands are both divisions of Albertsons Companies, Inc.
In addition to the weekly ad, Pavilions customers who have a paid FreshPass subscription ($99/year) can get access to unlimited free home delivery, in addition getting a $5 credit each month with the purchase of an annual subscription. Other exclusive FreshPass perks include 5% off on Signature pet care, monthly exclusive perks for Starbucks, saving 5% on organic products and more.
Raising the bar for grocery stores, the Albertsons company is converting some Vons stores to the more upscale branding of Pavilions. This started with an announcement in September 2021 that the Vons in Montecito, California would be converted to Pavilions in the late autumn of 2021.
With the desire to give back to the community, Pavilions and their customers raised more than $3 million that has been donated to local food banks in the Southern California area for the Thanksgiving 2021 season. Earlier in the year, the company raised over $1 million that was donated to help the Special Olympics of Southern California support and promote athletes with disabilities.
