Shady Maple Farm Market is an American family-owned grocery store in East Earl, Pennsylvania. The store prides itself on its high-quality farm-fresh produce as well as other products including grocery items, snack foods, meats, dairy, cleaning products, soft drinks, and much more. In addition, Shady Maple also offers pharmacy services, curbside pickup, in-house-made sushi, and a from-scratch bakery that features specialty donuts and customized cakes.
Starting out in 1962 as a roadside produce stand run by Henry Z. Martin and his wife out in front of their Pennsylvania home, the stand was located under a grove of large maple trees, which is where Shady Maple Farm Market got its name. The first store location was opened in 1970 and improvements were made over the next several years. By 1982 a cafeteria was added, eventually incorporating the Smorgasbord idea. The Farm Market continues to run in its location in East Earl, PA where the restaurant is located next door.
Shady Maple changes its sales regularly based on its weekly flyer, allowing customers to save on everyday items. In addition, the Shady Maple AppCard Rewards Program allows shoppers to earn money for meals, get special deals on deli items and bakery items, as well as enjoy access to a weekly giveaway. Plus, linking eCoupons directly to the AppCard allows customers to save even more easily.
In November 2021, Shady Maple Farm Market was the recipient of the Lodestar Award, which honors the use of clean energy. Shady Maple has been using solar power for its property since 2011 and the Pennsylvania Solar Center recognized the benefits of this commitment to solar leadership through the Lodestar Award.
Shady Maple, as a locally owned business, works hard to support other local businesses by stocking locally grown produce from nearby farms. In addition, at their restaurant, they also use a farm-to-table concept that keeps local growers in business.
