UGG Holdings, Inc. is an American footwear brand and division of Deckerâs Outwear Corporation that manufactures and distributes footwear. Their classic boots are known for an upscale yet casual look, premium quality, and comfort. The brand has taken the same formula -- the mixture of creativity, quality, and craftsmanship they poured into those boots â and applied it to new apparel, accessories, and homeware lines.
UGG was founded in 1978 in Goleta, California, by surfers Brian Smith and Doug Jansen. The footwear brand grew a loyal customer base among Southern California surfers and was a household name in surf shops in the 1980s and 90s. After a while, the widespread influence of surfer culture spread the footwearâs popularity inland to ski resorts. Then in 2003, the brand went national and international when Oprah Winfrey purchased 350 pairs for her âFavorite Thingsâ segments, gifting them to her staff and audience on air. As sales increased, the company started opening physical locations. In 2006, UGG opened its first store in New York's SoHo neighborhood and its first international store in Japan. In 2010, the company hit $1 billion in annual sales. The brandâs iconic womenâs boots are a staple across the world to this day.
Ugg ships to all 50 U.S. states, Canada, the U.K., European Union, and many other countries. They offer free standard shipping to non-P.O. box U.S. addresses on all full-priced items and all full-priced items together with sale items. You can find all their on-sale footwear and apparel items on the Sale page on their website. In November 2021, UGG stepped up its commitment to the environment by launching UGGrenew, a product refurbishment program. Dave Powers, President & CEO of UGGâs parent company, Deckers Brands, said: "We will continue putting the people, the planet, and our products at the forefront of our decision-making. UGG is committed to being a more regenerative brand â one that prioritizes long-term value over short-term gain by restoring the health of people, communities, and the planet."
Ugg is transparent about the materials they use to manufacture their products. They claim to use only ethically sourced sheepskin, leathers, suede, wool, down, cotton, and hemp. And they claim a serious commitment to monitoring and conforming to animal welfare standards and respecting the environment by minimizing their carbon footprint.
