Woodman's Market is an employee-owned U.S. regional supermarket chain based in Janesville, Wisconsin. Woodman's doesnât offer products outside of the grocery space. Instead, they bring their customers the widest variety of grocery items at the best prices. They have to produce, deli, frozen, natural foods, meat, and seafood, international, general merchandise, personal care, and a lot more. All Woodmanâs Markets are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week (though they have adjusted business hours during the pandemic) with a nearby Woodmanâs-operated gas station.
John Woodman founded Woodmanâs in 1919 when he and his family moved to Janesville, Wisconsin, and started a corner produce stand, which soon became a store. The company built a bigger store in Janesville in the early 1950s, then expanded beginning in the late 70s with a store in Madison, another store in Madison in the 80s, and more stores in Appleton, Kenosha, and Onalaska in the 90s. In 1998, Phil Woodman, grandson of company founder John Woodman, sold most of the company stock to the employees. Woodmanâs has since expanded into Illinois, opened more locations in Wisconsin, and rebuilt all its stores as warehouse-style supermarkets. Today, the chain is worth $2 billion and has 19 gigantic stores in Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
Woodmanâs website has printable coupons for in-store use, although the store lists coupons from coupons.com of a value greater than $2.00, which it claims not to accept. After over a year of construction, Woodman's Market opened its 19th location in Bloomingdale, Illinois, in August 2021. The new store is the chainâs sixth Illinois store and is situated immediately adjacent to the Stratford Square Mall, a large regional shopping center.
Woodmanâs Market works hard on being an active, generous member of its communities in supporting organizations that help the needy. They raise funds to build healthier communities, raising funds for local chapters of nationwide organizations, including the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, Boys & Girls Clubs, Goodwill Industries, and many more.
