Pottery Barn - Store

An upscale home decoration and furnishing company, Pottery Barn has almost 200 brick-and-mortar locations as well as a strong e-commerce site. Product lines feature bath and bedding, windows, lighting, soft goods, outdoor, art, kitchen goods, holiday décor, and more for homes, apartments, kids, and teens. Pottery Barn staff also offer services such as installation, free interior design, and room planning for those who desire extra help with their home purchases.

Pottery Barn - History

Pottery Barn came by its name honestly in 1949 when two brothers in Manhattan found three barns full of pottery extras that had been left over from Glidden Parker in New York. The brothers started one store, which quickly grew to seven stores, and then sold their shares in the 1960s. In 1984, the 13-store chain was purchased by the Gap, and then in 1986 it was acquired by retail kitchen and cookware company Williams Sonoma, who has grown it significantly in the past 35 years.

In addition to free shipping on items purchased through their website, Pottery Barn also provides credit card with no annual fee and plenty of key rewards, including a 10% welcome bonus, $25 birthday reward, and 1-5% cash back across all seven of the Williams Sonoma brands.

Pottery Barn - News

With the dream of becoming a “circular business”, Pottery Barn has launched a program to extend the life of its products to help make their business practices more sustainable. The company linked up with The Renewal Workshop to launch their “Pottery Barn Renewed” line which refurbishes returned and imperfect goods and sells them on the Renewal Workshop website.

Pottery Barn - More Information

Pottery Barn was featured on American sitcom “Friends” when Rachel buys a Pottery Barn apothecary table, but she lies to Phoebe saying that it is an antique “from the days of yore”. For the 25th anniversary of the sitcom the company, Pottery Barn brought back the discontinued table and sold canvas art prints along with the themes of the show.
