Acme Markets is a supermarket chain operating in 164 stores throughout Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, and Maryland. It is a current subsidiary of Albertsons and at least part of its presence in the Northeast. Acme offers products in bakery, dairy, deli, frozen foods, meat, seafood, general grocery, health, pharmacy, liquor, and beauty.
Acme has a longstanding history, founded in 1891 by Irish immigrants Robinson and Crawford decided to open a neighborhood grocery store in South Philadelphia. By 1917, they merged with four other local grocer chains to for ASCO. With the American family changing with the freedom of cars, Acme became a full-service supermarket under the ASCO banner. To maintain core values, they offered quality products at competitive prices with friendly service.
